Another pet cancer story in our series, this time from Beth D, Havertown PA.

Rex and Maddy came to me as litter mates almost 16 years ago. They were born in Limerick PA, home of a nuclear power plant. We always wondered if that would have any bearing on their lives. At around age 12, Maddy began to have a weepy eye, but was otherwise still her normal self. I eventually took her to our vet who referred her to an ophthalmologist. He couldn’t find any major problem, had me put drops in her eyes and had me follow-up with my vet in a week. A

Continuing on with our look at cancer in pets, here is a series of treatments for Coney, a 3 year old (when diagnosed)mixed breed cat, with Anterior MediastinalLymphoma (which is a lump in the chest cavity).

Coneys policy has a $500 annual deductible and a 35% copay, plus a $10,000 annual maximum, which keeps the premiums down (around $10 a month)butthe total claim payoutis about half the cost. If hed had a 20% copay (premiums around $13 a month), the payout would have been $542 higher ($2,888.76).

Thats why I always encourage the lower copay if you can afford it – it reduces the variability of your costs if you have big claims.

You can see that Coney had her initial treatment from August 2008 through toApril 2009.She tolerated it well and only had her whiskers drop out, which is common for a cat on chemotherapy.

Sometimes, we are being out of control when we are expense our money. It’s being okay if we spend our money for something but how if some our expenditure is for nothing? no matter what kind of thing that buy in beginning of the month, in the end or the month all of your expenditure bills will come to you. In the end of month usually is the hard time, because we must pay all of the bills or if we can’t pay it, the high interest fee will kill us. Facing this kind a situation, what do you need just the cash money from the trusted AZ tittle loans.

The AZ title loans are the right alternative for you if you need to get cash money immediately. The

In my previous post, I mentioned Maggie, the 2 year oldDachshund, who was treated for a rectal tumor and the fact that she is still alive at age 5 and well enough to have her teeth cleaned.

I thought you might be interested in the details of the cost of her treatment back in 2008.

Thats surgery to remove the mass and 6 months of chemotherapy totalling $8,038.05.

Maggie has not had any claims since these treatments until she recently had her periodontal work done in March 2011.

Maggies policy has a $500 annual deductible, 10% copay and a $10,000 annual maximum and drugs/dental coverage was included.

Pop Quiz: which of the following conditionscan behereditary in dogs?

  • allergies
  • glaucoma (clouding of the eye)
  • hanging tongue (tongue does not retract properly)
  • hygroma (fluid filled sac on dogs elbow)
  • flank sucking (licking the skin on the side of the body)
  • patella luxation (slipping knee cap)
  • pyometra (bacterial infection of the uterus)
  • skin neoplasms (tumors of the skin)
  • zinc-responsive dermatitis (scaly skin that responds to zinc in the diet)

What do you think?

Well, the answer is ALL of them.

Fr example, while allergies arent necessarily hereditary, there are some breeds that are known to be more prone to allergies than others, hence the genetic component (such as Dalmatians, Retrievers (especially Golden Retrievers), and Terriers.)

That is why it is so important to know what conditions your pets breed is prone to and how to deal with them.

I never really thought about it before but when it gets to the endless inappropriate peeing, most pet owners give up and either drop the cat off at the local shelter or have the cat put down. Its aheartbreaking situation when perhaps something can be done.

So I was really happy to seemy friendCaroline Golon start a website on litterbox issues, The Happy Litterbox, and how to address them. I am really hoping pet parents who really want to get over the peeing issue can use this website to help their own situation.

Ive contributed my own recent case study with my cat Rocket in the hopes that we can all share stories to help others.

After the beautiful and elegant Scottish Deerhound, Hickory, won Best in Show at Westminster, weve had questions about what kind of pet a dog like that would make.

Embrace put out a press release “Pet Insurance Company Offers Guidance on Scottish Deerhound, This Year’s “Best In Show” Breed” on the very topic:

Looking at the Deerhound we find it has two great joys in life: running after things for great distances at enormous speed, and lying next to you on the sofa, head in lap. If yo
