Consumers who live in certain states on the coast should look into whether they have home insurance that includes hurricane deductibles.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, insurance coverage issued in 18 different states and the District of Columbia may include this type of coverage, which will pay for damages associated with a hurricane.
“In the face of increased coastal development, combined with an increased risk of a hurricane, hurricane deductibles were created to help keep private sector property insurance coverage available and affordable by having the policyholder share more of the risk with their insurer,” III vice president of media relations Michael Barry said.

About Wisconsin unemployment rate drops in April, state department of labor officials say 16,400 jobs were added in the largest one-month jump in more than 14 years. It is hovering around 9.8 percent for the month of March, according to statistics released by the Department of Labor.
The Wisconsin unemployment rate drops adjusted jobless rate in April was 8.5 percent, down 0.3 percentage points from March. That compares with a national seasonally adjusted rate of 9.9 percent.
